Big Nickel Over 2 - Cover 2 UNSTOPPABLE BLITZ

This is a nice blitz I like to mix in with my Cover 2 pass coverage out of Big Nickel Over G. Always remember, no blitz is perfect and almost every 5, 6, 7, man blitz will have weaknesses in the defense. The idea is to get to the QB before he can make a read.

Setup #1:

(I always run this play flipped, that is optional though)

1. Base Align
2. Press
3. Pinch the Defensive Line
4. Slant the Defensive Line (up) Outside
5. Blitz All Linebackers
6. Blitz Nickel Cornerback
7. Move Nickel CB closer to Defensive End
8. QB Contain


NOTE: This first setup does not matter if base align and press first, that is only if you want LBers to fill in the gap on the D-Line.


Setup #2:

(You must do in this order, of Linebackers will not fill the gaps.)

1. Pinch Defensive Line
2. Crash Defensive Line (up) Slant Outside
3. Blitz All Linebackers
4. Base Align
5. Show Blitz
6. Blitz Nickel Corner
7. Move Nickel Corner closer to Defensive End
8. QB Contain


Setup #3

(Sending 8 man blitz)

1. Pinch Defensive Line
2. Crash Defensive Line (up) Slant Outside
3. Blitz All Linebackers
4. Base Align
5. Show Blitz
6. Blitz Nickel Corner
7. Move Nickel Corner closer to Defensive End
8. Blitz SS
9. Move SS closer to Defensive End to put him into the Contain
10. QB Contain


I know this seems like a lot of adjustments, but trust me, if you practice you can get the blitz setup fairly quickly; 2-3 seconds.
